Rare mid-1950s National Rejectors Odd Cent Housing, also known as a Penny Box, designed for Vendo Coca-Cola bottle vending machines during the brief transition from 5¢ to 6¢ pricing. This specialized 1¢ unit was mounted and wired to the host machine’s main coin mechanism so customers could deposit the required penny first, enabling the nickel mechanism and vending an ice-cold Coke. Original red metal housing with the classic “Deposit 1¢ First” and “1¢ Bent Coin Release” labeling, manufactured by National Rejectors, Inc. Interior includes the coin unit, switch components, and original wiring diagram. Exterior shows typical age-related wear with surface scratches and paint chips; binding and mechanism appear complete and the lock is intact. No key is included, but one can be made easily. A scarce original part sought by Vendo restorers, Coca-Cola machine collectors, and vintage soda-machine enthusiasts. These odd-cent housings were produced only for a short period before machines moved to a straight 10¢ price, making intact examples increasingly hard to find.
