This listing is for a Rare Antique English Gold Coin Changer Machine. This one was made by Geeancee in collaboration with Gaskell & Chambers of Birmingham. The device was most likely made for use within a pub or a bar and would have acted in some ways like a cash register. In this case, a gold Sovereign could be exchanged into 20 Shilling or a half Sovereign into 10 Shillings. This piece is quite early and dates to the late 1800s. We haven’t seen another like it. This one works via devices within the left and right compartments. When the drawer is opened, a small can appears, which would have held the 20 or 10 shillings. The changer machine appears to be in overall good condition. There’s signs of normal age such as darkening to parts of the wood, but nothing appears to be too out of the ordinary.
