Vintage 1950’s Era Penny Inserter Machine. Cigarette Pack Bulk Coin Dispenser. However a pack of cigarettes cost only 23 cents at most retailers. Instead of raising the price, cigarette vendors included two pennies in the package. This Penny Inserter machine was used to quickly and efficiently stuff 2 pennies under the cellophane with a minimum of effort. Someone decided to sandblast the whole machine (completely assembled) including the wood base. I completely dis-assembled the machine and had the cast iron and sheet steel components cleaned and electro-coated in a flat black enamel. I left the cast aluminum parts in their As Found condition. I made a new wood base from oak plywood, using the original pine base as a template. I re-assemble the machine using the original hardware. In operation, bulk pennies are loaded into the hopper. The pennies drop down into the three vertical tubes. Slots in the tubes show the operator how many pennies are available for processing (see photos). The operator would load a cellophane wrapped pack of cigarettes onto the holder and simply pull the hand crank, inserting 1, 2 0r 3 pennies under the existing cellophane. This is a very unique and rare Penny Inserter machine. I imagine that very few exist anywhere. Here is your chance to own a cool old machine that displays and works well.
