Vintage Diamond Matches Early Rare Advertising Coin Op Vending Collectible Penny Matchbook Dispenser. Early 1900’s roughly 1910’s or 1920’s, every bit of 100 years old. Definitely a rare piece, only a handful of these left. Looks like one or two bullet holes see side and inside divider photos, in addition to some damage on the back it does not close 100% flush, almost like it was broken into as part of a robbery. Maybe Butch Cassidy himself shot this dispenser… Or Bonnie and Clyde? Or some other outlaw thief? Let your imagination run wild as you ponder the possible history of this machine. Condition Notes: There is rust/corrosion all over. Lettering is faded in spots but can be read with enough light. I do not believe it is operational in current condition, would be a display piece or need restoration to be functional. I don’t see a number wheel behind the glass plate that would count down the number of remaining match books. The center bolt is bent a little and is missing the turning dial/key on the front. And again note the bullet holes on exterior sides and interior dividers as well as damage to top of back piece possibly from thief trying to pry open during the heist! Due to the bullets the casing/shell? Is not 100% symmetrical so it does take some wiggling to get the inner divider piece in and out. Measures about 14″ x 11″ x 8.
